When it comes to plastic surgery, we receive a lot of questions from patients asking what time of year is best to undergo a surgical procedure. The answer to this question varies depending on the procedure, but we often recommend the spring season for patients interested in body contouring, facial surgery, and breast enhancement or reduction.

Timing Matters

Think you’ll get the same results from your surgery whether you have the procedure performed in the spring or the fall? That’s actually not always the case. During certain seasons, especially winter and spring, you may have several holidays off from work. These long holiday weekends offer you some extra time to rest and recuperate without spending too much time away from the job. If you have school-age kids, it’s best to schedule your plastic surgery for a time when they’re still in school so that you’ll be able to focus more on healing and less on chasing them around when your body needs rest.

Why Spring?

There are a number of reasons why we recommend spring as the best time for our patients to undergo plastic surgery procedures. Many people change their appearance up in the spring, so this is a particularly great time for patients that don’t want to advertise to friends and coworkers that they’ve gone under the knife. By changing your hair style or color, updating your makeup routine, or making some other small changes to your appearance in the springtime, you may be able to distract busybodies from noticing surgery-related changes to your appearance.

Additionally, many of us make New Year’s Resolutions to get healthy or drop weight. It’s a good idea to schedule your plastic surgery after you’ve lost weight; a springtime surgery gives you several months to accomplish those goals. Plus, spring is cool enough that you may still be wearing clothing that conceals much of your body without suspicion, but by the time summer comes along, you’ll be ready to show off your body.

If you’re ready to make the leap to enhance your appearance with plastic surgery, there’s no better time than spring to call us to schedule your consultation!
