Breast Lift In Tallahassee
In order to restore the natural shape and fullness of their breasts, a growing number of women are combining breast lift and breast implant surgeries. Let us take a moment to discuss this popular, transformative procedure.
Who Benefits from a Breast Lift?
While it is natural for breasts to sag with age, some life events can expedite the process. Having a child, breastfeeding, and losing a significant amount of weight often affect the size and shape of breasts. Sagging breasts and lost chest volume can completely alter a woman’s figure, which can negatively impact her body image and self-esteem. A breast lift with implants can help restore a more proportional, aesthetically pleasing appearance.
The purpose of a breast lift, also known as mastopexy, is to reduce the amount of sagging by removing excess, stretched-out skin. A more youthful contour is further created by raising the nipple and areola into a higher, more forward position. A breast augmentation can replace tissue that was lost as a result of aging, pregnancy, or significant weight loss. It can also, of course, simply add size for patients who want larger breasts. Because a breast lift alone may not produce the desired result, many patients request implants as well. Both procedures require general anesthesia or local anesthesia with intravenous sedation and take about two to three hours to complete.
Recovery from the Procedure
Normally performed as an outpatient procedure, patients are able to return home shortly after breast surgery to begin their recovery. Because almost all of them experience soreness and swelling, cosmetic surgeons typically prescribe pain medications to help deal with the discomfort. Although walking as early as possible can help reduce swelling, patients shouldn’t overdo it for the first few days. In most cases, they can return to work in the first week after a breast lift and/or augmentation surgery. All forms of strenuous activity should be strictly limited for at least the first month of recovery.
Breast Lift with Augmentation
Here at the Tallahassee Plastic Surgery Clinic, patients can choose between silicone gel or saline implants for breast augmentation. The former generally provides a more natural look and feel, while the later gives a fuller, round appearance to the chest. We take time to explain the benefits and drawbacks of each implant type during personal consultation meetings with our doctors. Patients can then make an informed decision based on their personal wants and needs.
Breast Lift Without Implants
Although many patients decide to combine a breast lift with a breast augmentation, some simply have a standard breast lift without implants. In addition to being less expensive, a simple breast lift generally requires less recovery time because fewer incisions are needed. With that said, patients who have either procedure generally experience the same symptoms – temporary swelling, bruising, and soreness.
Breast Lift Cost
Surgeons’ fees vary based on the type of procedure performed. Breast lift and augmentation patients should expect costs for anesthesia, medical tests, facilities, prescriptions, and general surgeons’ fees.
At Tallahassee Plastic Surgery Clinic, we want to help you get the procedure you want. That’s why we have partnered with CareCredit, a national financial service, to offer a variety of fixed monthly payment plan options.
