How Is an Arm Lift Performed?
An arm lift is performed by making an incision along the underside of the upper arm, which allows our plastic surgeon to remove excess skin and fat. The extent of the incision depends on the amount of tissue that needs to be removed. After the excess skin and fat are excised, the remaining tissue is tightened, and the skin is repositioned to create a smoother, more toned appearance. In some cases, liposuction may be used in combination with the surgery to remove stubborn fat deposits. The incision is carefully closed with sutures, and you will likely need to wear compression garments to aid in the healing process and reduce swelling.

What to Expect
A typical recovery time frame should take about two weeks with lots of rest and arm elevation. You'll have to give yourself time to heal. You use your arms for just about everything, so you'll need to ease your way back into your normal activities. A suture removal appointment will be made approximately ten days following surgery. Compression garments should be worn until you are released by our one of our board-certified plastic surgeons. For at least a month (4 – 5 weeks), all exercise should be avoided, with the exception of taking short walks. If you notice uncontrolled bleeding, excessive swelling, hematoma (fluid buildup), signs of infection, loss of feeling in the arms or hands, or unusual scarring, please call Tallahassee Plastic Surgery Clinic for help.
