Which Chemical Peel Is Right for You?

9/27/2016

Chemical peels come in a variety of intensities, mostly due to the PH level. This gives face rejuvenation  patients a number of options to consider. The lower the PH level, the higher the penetration of the peel, which also means a more experienced doctor is need to administer it and a longer healing time is required. Typically, there are three choices: light, medium, and deep.

Light Peel

This type of chemical peel removes the top layer of skin, which helps with acne scarring, wrinkles, dry patches, or other superficial blemishes. Recent breakthroughs mean that this type of peel utilizes natural fruit enzymes and acids from foods such as cranberries and pineapples. This helps deliver the desired results with none of the irritation. Usually, six to ten treatments are suggested at this level, which will allow new skin cells to grow and develop, resulting in a healthy glow for your face . These peels leave minimal redness and side effects, meaning they are perfect for lunch breaks or quick treatments.

Medium Peel

A medium peel penetrates deeper and addresses harder to reach skin problems. These issues include sun damage, wrinkles, or unwanted pigmentation blotches. This bolder penetration means there will be small discomfort or stinging, both during the process and for a short time afterwards. The typical recovery time is about one week. Immediate side effects may include patches of swollen or itchy skin as the treatment works to cleanse facial impurities and heal with the aide of new cells.

Deep Peel

As one would expect, this type of peel is the most intensive, but it also offers extreme results. The deep chemical peel can significantly improve sun damage, scarring, and even some entrenched wrinkles. The process itself is characterized by some tingling and burning. The healing process is longer too. It is recommended to set aside a few days after the procedure to focus on resting, as the skin will swell, peel, itch, and scab.

The nurses and others whom I met were very caring and kind. Dr. Paredes appeared quite knowlegeable and I felt confortable speaking to him. I would refer others to him.

Ask for Dr. Rawlings. He’s Amazing. – Dr Rawlings understood my concerns abt a previous surgery performed by another surgeon. He didn’t make me feel rushed and heard me out on each one. He brought solutions I was comfortable with…surgery isn’t easily reversible if there are errors. He gets it. People are coming in to improve their lives, not make them worse!
