An arm lift, also known as Brachioplasty, is a type of cosmetic surgery that gets rid of Loose Arm Skin. During Brachioplasty, excess fat and skin are removed which tightens and smoothens the tissue on the arm.

Genetics and aging can both lead to sagging arms and you might be left with loose arm skin as you get older. Significant weight loss can also lead to the undersides of your upper arms to droop.

When a person gains a lot of weight, naturally the skin stretches over time, and this leads to extra skinfold of tissue. Exercise might help strengthen your arm and improve the muscle tone of the upper arm, but it won’t address the loose skin that has lost its elasticity.

Brachioplasty is best for you if you meet the following criteria:

  • Good Health.
  • No active diseases or pre-existing medical conditions.
  • The patient is not an active smoker.

Procedure

The surgeon will make incisions on the undersides of your arm, and the pattern and length will depend on how much loose skin is to be removed. After the area is removed, some fat and arteries are left so that it covers the skin.

Recovery

After Brachioplasty, your incisions will be covered in bandages. Your arms will be loosely wrapped in bandages and elastic bandages placed to lessen swelling. Some of the precautions that you might take are as follows:

  • Avoid lifting arms beyond your shoulder level.
  • Avoid athletic and physical activities.
  • Take oral antibiotics as prescribed to avoid infections.
