Tallahassee Tummy Tuck Procedure
A tummy tuck is body contouring method used to remove extra skin
and fat from the abdominal area, resulting in more definition and
a more youthful appearance. Whether because of weight gain or loss,
pregnancy, or other health factors, the abdomen frequently does
not resume its normal shape, and the abdominoplasty procedure is
used to tighten these stretched muscles. The procedure also reduces
the size of the waistline.
Two different procedures are available. The first, a full tummy
tuck, involves a small surgical incision across the lower abdomen.
A second incision is then made farther up on the stomach, loosening
the surrounding skin. The physician then separates the skin from
the wall of the abdomen and pulls the loose muscles from the left
and right flanks, then sutures them together. At this point, any
excess skin is removed, and any remaining incisions are closed using
stitches or staples.
An alternative tummy tuck is used to target problem areas below
the belly button, referred to as a partial abdominoplasty or mini-
tummy tuck. This is a much less invasive form of the surgery, and
is often performed on an outpatient basis. Both of these procedures,
depending on the patient, can be performed in conjunction with liposuction.
Sometimes, a tummy tuck procedure is forgone for liposuction. The
physicians and staff at Tallahassee Plastic Surgery Clinic can best
advise you on the advantages to each procedure, and which procedure
is best for you. They are also available to answer your questions
about the tummy
tuck procedure in Tallahassee.
